Season 7 Update

Skills

We've made a huge effort to improve the Skills experience.

Firstly, we've removed the whole Fisherman Skill, and we're considering removing Ore Generators completely (else, nerfing them heavily) because we want to create a more interactive and rewarding grinding experience - rather than standing in the same place for hours, that ain't too much fun.

Secondly, we've introduced a new Skill called Excavation (aka Digging!) where shovels finally have a use! This Skill is a lovely replacement for Fisherman, so thank you to RelTy6 for this suggestion!

Thirdly, we've looked at Skills as whole and made them easier! The Island Team multiplier currently increases by 0.5 for every member added after 1, so teaming is still advantageous if you can all contribute equally!

Fossils & Excavation

We want to make the time you invest into the server much more rewarding, and we started this process in Season 6 by adding Fossils. This season, Fossils are physical currencies you get as items (if your inventory is full they'll go to /fossils which also counts how many Fossils are in your inventory).

Fossils can be used for:

  • Buying Custom Enchants
  • Buying Custom Enchant Tier Upgrades
  • Repairing Items

You can get Fossils by killing bosses and digging in the Archeologist Pit at spawn, which is also the place where you can will earn Excavation XP.

Obviously, there's no giant sandpit on your island, so Excavation will always solely take place in the Archeologist Pit (which replaces the Fishing Lake), and all the dimensions will have variations of the pit that give higher amounts of Skill XP per block as you progress!

Souls & Silverfish

While grinding your Skills you may encounter either a reward or be challenged by a Silverfish!

These new Silverfish will replace the mobs you saw in the Mines or while Fishing (removed anyway), and they reward you with another physical currency called Souls.

Souls can be used for:

  • Spawner Tier Upgrades
  • Buying Boss Eggs (Coming Soon)

While this extra cost might seem like a pain, upgrading your Spawner to Tier 10 saves you 15% of the total cost of buying 10 separate spawners, so your investment into grinding will pay off when buying in bulk!

You can also receive Souls from killing mobs, with larger amounts in the higher Spawner types.

Rubies & Mining

Mining is now much more rewarding and interactive within the Mines, and as said before, we've removed the Mine Mobs, which appeared even if you weren't mining. You'll encounter the new Silverfish, however these are more rewarding and have a tiny amount of health in comparison.

While Mining you'll receive Rubies, the chance that you'll receive a Ruby depends on your Skill Rank. The higher your Skill Rank, the more Rubies you'll get.

Rubies are a fundemental part of our new Generator system, and will be used for:

  • Buying Generators
  • Upgrading Generator Tiers

We're currently planning on removing OreGens from Islands, but if you have any better ideas let us know. We understand they're a well known feature of Skyblock but they can be so boring to use!

We're balancing the Mines so that you get more Skill XP per hour there, than you will have standing still Mining with OreGens on previous seasons.

Generators

Our Metal Generators have had an exciting overhaul, reforming how they are accessed and how they reward you!

For a while we've felt that Metal Generators needed a new purpose, something outside of just generating you money - which is what Spawners do on an infinite scale!

So Generators are now bought completely using Metals and Rubies, with a Copper Generator costing 32 Copper and 4 Rubies.

You may be wondering where you get this original Copper from, and that's another part of our Mining update!

As you upgrade your Skill Rank you can unlock the ability to find metals when you're mining ores, for example you may unlock Aluminium in Skill Rank 8.

Metals aren't items like Fossils, Insects, Souls and Rubies, they're remaining virtual and can be seen in /copper, /aluminium, etc.

When you unlock these new metals, you'll then be able to buy the Generator for that Metal in /shop, and all upgrades of that Generator will be in the same metal and cost you Rubies.

Metals will be able to buy you other currencies, for example FlexiXP, and in essence you then have a FlexiXP Generator*, and we also plan to bring more goods to the Metal Trade store at a later date so you have a range of items to choose from.

We're also planning to make Generator limits player-based, however we're still developing the idea for this, and it might not make it to release.

We're really excited about this huge revamp to Metal Generators which will bring both Mining and Metals much more depth!

*FlexiXP Generators remain the untouched, and will still be on the store and in crates!

Repairing

We've noticed how Skills can be a struggle for lower and non-ranked players who can't use /fix for their broken tools after they've become unfixable through anvils. This often means Members have to ask people with /fix to do this for them, which can be an annoyance to both the member and the ranked player.

So we've come up with a new system where members and ranked players both have access to repair any item.

Members will have to pay a higher price and will have longer to wait between repairs, while those who have bought or have rank access will have a heavily discounted price and shorter intervals.

Details on these repair prices and intervals aren't available yet.

Insects

This is more of a creative currency that will be gained from Logging and Farming in a similar way to other currencies.

Insects will allow you to buy:

  • Boss Eggs (Coming Later)
  • Animal/Monsters Eggs
  • Elytras
  • Shulker Boxes
  • Head Vouchers

We have some more ideas for how you'll spend Insects which we'll experiment with after release, with more decorative uses on the way.

Mob Absorbers

We'll be making some updates to Profit Mode this season and we'll allow Mob Absorber Tiers to affect the Profit Percentage that other users receive (as this was undermining the economy later in S6).

We're also expanding the /collectall command which was introduced in Season 6 for Generators, with "/collectall absorbers" that can collect all your Absorbers on your Island. This perk is being added once again to Opulent Rank.

Miscellaneous

  • OreGen and Carrier Programs have essentially been removed from sale (they're there but you can't buy them).
